    The nomenclature of training levels is used, notably for statistical purposes, to measure the studies performed by individuals. Two classifications are commonly used in France: the national nomenclature levels training, established in 1969 by the National Statistical Committee and the International Standard Classification of Education(ISCED), created by UNESCO in 1997, up updated in 2011 and used for international comparisons.

    A French inter-ministerial commission, interprofessional and interagency. It has been created by the social modernization law (No. 2002-73). It is under the authority of the Minister responsible for vocational training. These commissioners are appointed by order of the Prime Minister for a period of five years renewable.
